Hummer Sold by GM, Chevy Caprice – Police Car
by admin on Dec.31, 2009, under News
Sorry Hummer fans. Your high powered vehicle is now released by one of the world’s biggest car manufacturer in the planet, not to mention the millions of dollars lost and thousands of people who lost their jobs under this car manufacturer during the global recession.
On GM’s side, this transaction unloads a bi burden off their shoulders. The sale only cost at around $150 million dollars for the sale of this brand to China’s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. If evaluated, the amount of money involved is just small but this will really help GM on their financial lost.
According to Fritz Henderson, GM President and CEO, “HUMMER is a strong global niche brand and this agreement signifies another important milestone in writing the next chapter for both GM and HUMMER”. “For HUMMER, the combination of its knowledgeable leadership team, vehicle design expertise and the capital financing of Tengzhong portend a successful future.” And as a result of the deal, around 3,000 jobs are expected to be saved.
On the other hand, the struggling auto maker also revived one of their fairly good cars into a police patrol car. The Chevy Caprice is now being catered as a police patrol car for the North American Market. It is a good thing that GM came out with the idea because they realized that the Caprice (the same as the Pontiac G8) is too good to waste.
The Chevy Caprice police car will initially be powered by an E85-compatible 6.0-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 385 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic and, like the G8, power is transferred to the real wheels. GM says the cop car reaches 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds.
What’s At Stake for a Whopping $44, 000?

Last April 2009, the car maker Lexus already announced what is in store for car enthusiasts and convertible lovers come 2010 for a whopping $44,000. It’s the 2010 IS350C retractable hardtop convertible!
Continuing with the tradition of the car maker, that is, to produce only certified-luxurious sporty sedans, they launched the 2010 IS 350C. This convertible also has the “sporty styling” of a coupe while still retaining and even mounting the luxuriousness. Want it? Well, you got to have roughly $44,000 to own it! Pretty expensive you might say but that’s still $20,000 behind its sister Lexus SC430 and still way practical to buy than its counterparts from other car makes. In any case, these are the specs and features that come with the 2010 model.
· A three-panel roof that opens in just 20 seconds
· Chiefly constructed of lightweight aluminum that helps achieve smooth, quiet retraction
· Provides efficient packaging and luggage space
· Contains a 3.5-liter, 306-hp V6 with a six-speed automatic
· adjustments to the body structure and suspension provide “torsional” firmness and ride comfort with the top down, and low Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) on par with the IS sedan when in coupe configuration.
· Instrument gauges have been revised to help increase visibility during top-down driving, and the climate-control system has a speed-sensitive control feature that automatically increases air flow when the top is down while also automatically adjusting to vehicle speed.
On the exterior, the car comes with the following innovations:
· A sleek aerodynamic design and a collection of underbody covers help achieve its lowest possible drag coefficient – 0.29 Cd versus the IS sedan’s 0.27 Cd – while creating minimal wind turbulence in the cabin.
· Fresh fog-lamp design
· New combination tail-lamp clusters feature LED lights; a LED brake light is integrated within the standard rear spoiler.
Well, those are just few of the many clever innovations that you can get in exchange of your $44,000. There’s still a lot that weren’t mentioned here but you can still check out the other details at japanesesportscars.com. Now, are you ready to spare your $44,000?

Review on Mercedes Benz E-500
by admin on Dec.25, 2009, under All Car Wallpapers
The Mercedes Benz E-500 is a 5.5-litre V8, petrol, seven-speed automatic sedan that is considered to be the best looking E-class car from Mercedes Benz that has the angular structure. Its angular theme continues through the interior, with the old model’s swoopy dash replaced by a classic squared off look. Dash plastics which are soft to touch, glossy, lacquered wood, smooth leather – the quality cannot be faulted. The seats are also very, very comfortable with plenty of adjustment in all directions. Especially nice is the seat movement buttons located on the door, in easy reach. It also has the voice control, COMAND system and has Airmatic, an Merc-speak for air suspension.
This car is NOT a a sports car – Mercedes-Benz has an AMG range if that’s your bent – so it’s a much more relaxing drive than some of its Germanic competitors. You’ll always feel refreshed upon emerging, yet it has the urge if you need it. That’s something that the demographic that it suits has worked out.
Really, the Mercedes-Benz E500 has everything you’d ever need. This is a car that will do it all. From being an autobahn cruiser, to a twisty backroad chaser, to a family hauler, the E500 has the power and safety to handle what ever you throw at it.
Specifications:
- Engine: 5.5 litre DOHC V8 (32 valve)

Silence of the Lanes: The 2009 Toyota Prius
by admin on Dec.24, 2009, under News
What is the best hybrid car on the market? Well, most hybrid car owners will tell you that the best hybrid is the one that they drive. The Toyota Prius would have to be the choice for the most compact, yet still stylish, hybrid car.
The 2010 Toyota Prius occupies 4 of 24 medium-sized affordable cars. It’s a huge improvement over the outgoing model. Not only is the interior vastly improved, the car gets even better mileage: It’s now rated at 51/48 mpg city/highway, 50 mpg combined. Both the electric motor and gasoline engine is improved. It also shares the hood bulge like other Toyota sedans, and lost the horizontal bar through the back window that interfered with visibility in the previous edition.
The new Prius might look similar to the outgoing version, still distinctive with its five-door coupe side profile and steeply raked front and rear sections. Although the size, specification and performance have increased, prices have changed very little. Expensive, but residual values are high, so it makes the most expensive initial purchase price.
A clean, futuristic dashboard serves as a simple difference of sample complexity aboard the Toyota Prius, and large windows provide great visibility everywhere. Style in the 2009 Toyota Prius once considered radical, but it became unimaginative and best Hybrid car.
How to Drive for 100 MPG
by admin on Dec.22, 2009, under News
Working out the MPG on your car can be very easy and very informative; 100 MPG might sound like an incredible number but it’s not impossible. Hybrid owners are having some slight modifications, adapting some driving style, distance and efficiency through methods of better maintenance. It doesn’t matter what type of car you drive, as long as it can increase your fuel efficiency by at least 10 percent and oftentimes much more.
The only way to get better gas mileage is by improving or adjusting some driving habits. Below are some tips that will help you to improve the mileage in any car not just in hybrids.
Easy on the throttle, then glide – by accelerating gently up to the speed limit you will get better gas mileage. Once you reach the speed limit then you need to glide. Through this, releasing pressure on the accelerator, you are using the less amount of power to maintain the speed.
Anticipate traffic – just anticipate the stop by easing off the accelerator pedal early and coasting as much as you can.
Slow down on the highway – the fuel efficiency of a car depends on the car’s aerodynamics, tire pressure, engine size and speed. We have been led to believe that whatever type of car we have, we have to minimize the fuel usage by driving at 55mph.
Drive smoothly – in order to keep the experience fun for everyone, drivers need to learn and practice some safety precautions with appropriate training and preparation.
Mazda to resort to light cars by 2010
by admin on Dec.21, 2009, under News
Mazda’s heading into lighter cars by 2010. According to a top executive, Mazda Motor Corp. is planning to reduce the weights of their cars by 220 pounds by using light weight materials as well as instilling new engineering process.
In a speech to the Motor Press Guild, senior vice president of product development and quality for Mazda North American Operations, Robert Davis, explained the how Mazda cars ballooned in recent years. Moreover, cited how the reduction of the vehicle’s curb weight by 220 pounds will improve its fuel economy 3 to 5 percent.
But even with the given optimism on this development, there are still factors that will be sacrificed like conflicts increased fuel economy with safety regulations, not to mention the financial factor. It would be a struggle on how cost-efficient these light weight materials are since these are more expensive than regular traditional steel. This will be a challenge for automotive technological breakthrough on how they will make this feasible.
Davis sees that Mazda cars of the future may be smaller but will have more efficient engines as well as calculated interior design in which any size reduction of the car will go unnoticed.
